View Full Version : Best Pilot
What constitutes a great pilot over an average pilot? When talking corporate aviation, what qualities have you seen from pilots' you look up to, and how do owners rate their pilots'?
A good pilot is one that gets you to your destination safely and comfortably. A great pilot is one who gets you to your destination safely (and possibly comfortably) in the face of adversity, whatever form that takes.
There is obviously a lot more to being a pilot, but from a passenger point of view, I think that's the primary factor.

Additionally I would say a professional attitude; unwavering adherence to safe practice; attention to detail; loyalty and consideration for his crew, friendly demeanour.
Grace under pressure including that from the aircraft owner when things are not right.

A great pilot is one who completes the task safely and professionally, no matter what the adversity, whithout the passenger being aware there was any adversity. Trouble is, if everything is made to appear smooth, the passengers begin to wonder why they are paying you all that money. You just can't win sometimes!
